Calvary Baptist Day School is committed to excellence in Christian education by placing God at the center of all we do. From a deep and abiding belief that “All truth is God’s truth,” we teach the best in word, thought and deed. God is interwoven through all of our subject teaching, and we are sure to begin each day in God's Word and sharing a devotional time with students and teachers.
To keep our focus on Christ, we have weekly chapel services in the Calvary sanctuary. Lower School worships on Fridays at 9:00, and Upper School at 9:45 on Fridays. Once a quarter we have a combined school chapel where kindergarten through 12th grade worships together.
During our Lower School chapel once a month, one student from each class is recognized as the Servant's Heart Award winner. To receive this award, a student must openly put the needs of someone else above their own and display the heart of a servant, following Jesus' example in Mark 9:35. These children are presented a certificate during the chapel service and have a pizza party with the principal!
We teach our students that the Word of God is useful in our everyday lives and is to be lived out! Luke 12:48 says, "from everyone who has been given much, much will be required". CBDS has partnered with Forest Park Elementary School to allow our students to give back to the Lord what He has blessed our families with through snack bags and much needed school supplies for these students who can greatly benefit from our giving. Our Lower School students interact with Forest Park students with ice cream socials and reading days to celebrate learning.
Upper School students are continually engaging in a variety of activities to help keep their focus on Christ through discipleship groups, Bible studies, and student-led worship. The 7th and 8th grades monthly prayer breakfasts, Fellowship of Christian Athletes' devotional breakfasts, and the student-led worship during chapel are all just a few examples of these opportunities. Many teachers and students meet each week in different groups to study Scripture and its application to their lives. Calvary is blessed to share the unique bond that is built within a Christ-centered community.
Each year, our students participate in a School of Service week where each child lives out the great commission commanded by Jesus through serving people in our community.
